The company now adds a new hotel project to its vast portfolio in the Spanish market

An ancient convent in San Sebastian dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries has been transformed into the first hotel owned by the Catalonia brand in the Basque Country, and Vicaima was the brand chosen to provide its interior doors. Poised on the hill of San Bartolomeu and boasting panoramic views of La Concha beach, the Catalonia Donosti hotel is an elegant 4-star property that has 128 rooms of 7 different types.

The development features a refined British style, using the finest materials such as silks, velvet and marble, bestowing charm and sophistication to any stay. Set in a historical building with high ceiling spaces, the building preserves all the old parts of the original property, which are protected as Urban Heritage, thus creating a unique and authentic ambiance.

Different Portaro® units have been integrated into the building - a set comprising door, frame and accessories in a single piece. At the entrance to the rooms the Portaro® EI30 AC44db was fitted. This option offers fire resistance up to 30 minutes and acoustic isolation up to 44 decibels, which are essential attributes to guarantee the security and comfort of the guests. In their interiors, the Block Sliding was installed, contributing to greater functionality and use of space. For the rest of the common areas, several units of the Portaro® EI60 fire rated solution were used.

The hotel entrance defines the essence of the entire project reflecting a modern décor contrasting with the classic style evidenced in the façade and towers of the building, which was renovated by means of a rigorous rehabilitation process. Bearing in mind the search for a balance between tradition and modernity, the choice went to a RAL 9017 Lacquer - a plain colour, ideal for elegant and sophisticated settings, blending in with classic architecture and avant-garde design.

As part of this new project, Vicaima honours the century old heritage with high quality and performance solutions, thereby reinforcing its position as one of the major European players in the design and production of avant-garde solutions for interior doors, technical doors, frames, wardrobes, panels and furniture pieces.
