Vicaima supports University Team at Solar Decathlon Middle-East Contest 2018
Vicaima worked together with a team of students from the University of Bordeaux for the Baity Kool project, which was recently awarded the 2018 Solar Decathlon Middle-East Contest, in the field of sustainability.
This international and multidisciplinary competition, held in Dubai, invites universities and students from all over the world to participate in the adventure of creating, designing, building and operating a solar powered home.
BaityKool designates a U-shaped housing model with the purpose of designing, implementing and testing a 80m2 prototype adapted to the Middle East climate, maintaining a mineral appearance on its exterior and a naturist aura inside. It aims to be a home for co-living and co-working, incorporating several innovations and functionalities capable of promoting the well-being of its occupants. Its "green" roof, its high-performance walls, its distinctive construction method and the state-of-the-art solutions it incorporates, among which are the Portaro® solutions supplied by Vicaima, including 60 minute certified Fire doors and frames, as well as non-Fire solutions in white lacquered finish.
It should be noted that in the global ranking where all areas of the contest are considered, such as energy efficiency, comfort, innovation, architecture, construction, among others, the BaityKool team won the 3rd prize of this first edition of the Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018 in Dubai.
