The ‘New Maternity Hospital’ (KNMH), one of the largest and most advanced hospital projects in the Gulf region, is equipped with Vicaima door solutions, confirming its position as a benchmark in cooperation with healthcare infrastructures.
Offering a total capacity which includes 789 beds, 59 delivery rooms and 28 surgery rooms, this state-of-the-art hospital was designed to offer specialised facilities for diagnosis and treatment in obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatology, consolidating its position as a centre of excellence in the field of maternal health.
To meet the demands of this large-scale project featuring an 18-storey main tower, Vicaima supplied over 9 000 doors, which were fitted in the different areas of the hospital complex.
The solutions provided include high-dimension, double leaf and sliding doors, which contribute to maximising space and mobility between different areas. Doors with glass openings were also integrated, adding natural light, an essential feature within a healthcare environment, and with ventilation grilles, which are essential for air circulation between spaces. The areas leading to rooms containing radiology equipment are equipped with anti-radiation doors, thereby ensuring the imperative protection of both professionals and users.
In line with the hospital’s requirements, Dekordor® SHD, a high-pressure laminate for intensive use with a customised oak pattern, was chosen. This solution offers resistance, durability and a contemporary aesthetic, suitable for high-performance hospital environments.
The solid doors supplied by Vicaima are FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified, thereby ensuring that the timber used is sourced from responsibly managed forests. This choice reflects the increasing concern for sustainability in construction projects worldwide, a priority aligned with the ESG strategy defined and implemented by Vicaima.
The ‘New Maternity Hospital’ covers a total area of 360 000 m² and includes four interconnected buildings, including a main hospital, an external consultation unit, a parking facility with capacity for 1 800 vehicles and a service centre. The project was developed in accordance with the latest international standards for the construction of hospital centres, including energy efficiency and sustainability principles.
Part of the ‘New Kuwait 2035’ national development plan, the project adopts the best market practices in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. Strategically located in the medical area of Al-Sabah and close to the Kuwaiti coast, the architectural design favours natural lighting and integration with the surrounding landscape.
As a leading European player in the design and production of doors, frames, wardrobes, panels and furniture pieces, Vicaima is further reinforcing its commitment to this sector by providing solutions that combine quality, durability and sustainability. Participation in the ‘New Maternity Hospital’ in Kuwait is yet another example of the company’s capacity to respond to large-scale projects, offering innovative solutions for highly demanding environments.
