The brand Vicaima was chosen to supply the interior doors of the Sama Hotel, in the capital of Senegal, reaffirming its presence in the hospitality sector and its capacity to cater for international reference projects.

Integrating the Sama Living group, this hotel - which opened at the end of 2024 - is located in Les Almadies, one of Dakar’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, and reflects a fusion between African authenticity and contemporary design combining innovation, comfort and sustainable development, thus offering a full hospitality experience.

Based on an architectural concept emphasising simplicity and harmonious integration between spaces, the Sama Hotel required solutions that would combine aesthetics, functionality and resistance from one of Europe’s major players in the design and production of doors, frames, wardrobes, panels and furniture pieces.

To complement the sophistication of a project with different requirements, ranging from business stays to tourism and leisure, Vicaima met the challenge by supplying solutions for the rooms, corridors, lobby and other common areas, ensuring a design aligned with the hotel’s identity and the need for high technical performance.

Several Portaro® solutions combining door, frame and accessories in a single piece were installed in the different areas, including Portaro® Inverse, which enables the doors to be lined with the panels, offering a distinctive design and allowing for the creation of continuous, straight-line surfaces. Notable among the solutions applied is Portaro® Inverse EI30 AC40dB, which contributes to the security and comfort of guests by providing fire resistance for up to 30 minutes and acoustic insulation of up to 40 decibels.

The coating was carefully selected to complement the aesthetics, with the choice falling on Dekordor® SHD in three finishes tailored to the project: Oak, Walnut and Taupe. These options guarantee resistance to intensive use, while providing sophistication and a very natural touch to the surroundings.

Featuring 92 rooms and suites that were meticulously designed, the Sama Hotel favours a minimalist and artistic design, where each space is enriched with original works of art by Senegalese artists. The harmony between pastel colours and granite, fine materials and large windows ‘framing’ the Atlantic horizon enhances the feeling of exclusivity and well-being.

Sustainability is one of the pillars of Sama Hotels, which adopts responsible practices and prioritises partners who share its values. By choosing Vicaima for this project, this concern is reflected, as the company integrates sustainability into its ESG strategy by taking actions aimed at reducing its ecological footprint, such as providing solutions with FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certification - which ensures that the wood used comes from responsibly managed forests.

The opening of the Sama Hotel in Dakar represents the first step in an innovative hotel chain in Africa, where hospitality, culture and design come together to create memorable experiences.
